Carlos V. Cohen, Principal

Welcome to La Cuesta Continuation High School and Alta Vista Alternative High School.

My name is Mr. Cohen, and I am honored to serve as principal of these supportive and student-centered school community programs. I believe every student has strengths, potential, and a story worth honoring. Our mission is to meet students where they are and support them as they move confidently toward graduation and future goals.

I bring over 40 years of service to this role, including experience as a U.S. Marine, biomedical technician, teacher, and school administrator. I have served as a high school principal in Ventura Unified School District and hold advanced degrees in education and educational leadership from UCSB and Cal State Northridge. Throughout my career, I have been committed to creating safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments.

At La Cuesta and Alta Vista, we focus on personalized learning, strong relationships, and flexible pathways that support credit recovery, acceleration, and personal growth. Our schools offer small class sizes, mentor-teacher support, wellness and counseling services, and alternative programs designed to support the whole student. La Cuesta is proud to be a California Model Continuation School and WASC accredited.

We value strong partnerships with families and the community and believe collaboration is key to student success. Whether students are preparing for graduation, careers, or college, we are here to support them every step of the way.

Alexandra Wilson, Assistant Principal

Welcome Students and Families,

My name is Alexandra Wilson, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of La Cuesta Continuation High School and Alta Vista Alternative High School. I am excited to work in a school community that values every student and is committed to helping them succeed.

I grew up in Santa Barbara and come from a family of educators, which inspired my passion for working with students. My background as a special education teacher and district support leader has shaped my belief that all students deserve understanding, encouragement, and meaningful support.

At La Cuesta and Alta Vista, we focus on building strong relationships, creating inclusive environments, and supporting students both academically and personally. I enjoy working closely with students and families and celebrating each step of progress along the way.

Please know that you are a valued part of our school community. I look forward to working with you and supporting our students’ success.

Warm regards,
Alexandra Wilson
